DENVER — More than 32 global CBD experts will gather to present timely updates on the state of cannabinoidiol business, tech and policy at the 6th annual CBOutLook conference, set for August 14-15 at the University of Denver. Newsmakers Brian Furnish, Bruce Linton and Mark Bolton will participate on key presentations.
Kentucky hemp pioneer Brian Furnish is widely credited with writing the 2014 and 2018 US Farm Bill, championed by his home state hemp advocate Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). McConnell introduced Furnish at the Senate Agriculture committee last month, as it considered testimony from representatives of the Food & Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Also speaking from USDA, will be Bill Richmond, who is a key planner for USDA hemp rules expected to be released this fall.
Former Canopy Growth(NYSE: CGC) co-founder Bruce Linton will talk about the massive potential for CBD and wellness, and his experience of the overall market, where he helped create the world’s most valuable public firm, with a market capitalization nearing $19Billion. Directing millions of acquisition dollars for related assets (Acreage Holdings, EBBU, TerraAscend, Canopy Rivers), Linton also uniquely understands the expectations of global regulators as the key interface at Canopy Growth.
With its’ FDA patent for CBD-derived Epidiolex, Greenwich BioSciences (the American subsidiary of GW Pharmaceuticals-GWPH) will have a long-term impact on all other CBD interests, and is sending a key executive member, Mark Bolton, to share the company’s philosophy. Bolton was formerly a key advisor on all cannabis affairs to Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) in the rollout of that state’s infant cannabis industry. Bolton was also formerly affiliated with the mega firm of Hyatt Brownstein Farber, and is now Greenwich’s Senior Director, U.S. Public Policy & Public Affairs.
Three different Excellence Awards will be voted by CBOutLook attendees during the conference. Nominated for Best Pet CBD (Bluebird, Pet Releaf, Koi CBD); Best Special Formulation (Green Roads, Joy Organics, Medterra) and Best CBD Topicals (Ananda Hemp, Lord Jones and Palmetto Harmony). Awards will be kick off the 2019 D&B AfterParty, Aug. 15.
