All proceeds to benefit the California Growers Association Wildfire Relief Fund.
LOS ANGELES – RISE TOGETHER, a fundraiser produced by concerned members of the industry to benefit the California Growers Association’s Wildfire Relief Fund, will take place Thursday, November 9, at a new location in downtown Los Angeles. The fundraiser, which has been in the works for several weeks, even as October’s Northern California fires were still burning, was originally to take place in the Hollywood Hills.
In announcing the fundraiser, tickets for which can be bought here, organizers included fire impact information provided by the CGA. “In Sonoma and Mendocino, we have confirmed at least 44 farms and related businesses that have suffered significant damages and losses due to the wildfires,” reported the trade group. “We are working to confirm 11 more reports. We have several unconfirmed reports of farms impacted in Santa Cruz. We estimate at least $40 million in wholesale value was lost from wildfire directly.”
The CGA estimates the cost of recovery will be $3.4 million. “To date we have raised $104,720. We have made no expenditures,” it added.
“The immediate need we face is to support the affected farmers who, like many of us in the cannabis space, lack protections that are available to other businesses, and so we are rallying the entire cannabis community together behind this cause,” stated the CGA in a prepared statement. “The CalGrowers Wildfire Recovery Fund is focused on ensuring that losses from wildfire do not stand in the way of any growers getting a state license in January,” it added.
RISE TOGETHER is produced by Higher Standards Agency, White Buffalo, Cure Designs, Evoxe Laboratories, Green Goat Estates, Grassfed, Weekapaug Media, Composite Agency, Alice Moon, Lauren Unger, and The Emerald Exchange.
