Bill Nye’s Netflix show, “Bill Nye Saves the World,” will tackle marijuana in its second season.

Last year, Bill Nye went public with his views on marijuana. Nye sees no reason to continue criminalizing marijuana and would like the federal government to remove obstacles in the of properly researching its medicinal value.

Now he is going even further when it comes to examining marijuana. The premiere episode of “Bill Nye Saves the World” will look into the Seattle legal marijuana market.

But don’t expect the chance to get high with Nye. He does not partake himself and is “not crazy about the smell.”

“Here’s the takeaway …  nobody’s really sure how it works, marijuana. Nobody’s exactly sure what it does. And so there’s a very strong argument that keeping it as a Schedule I drug is not based on any science. Schedule I means that it’s presumed to be addicting and it’s presumed to have no medicinal value. But people use marijuana and marijuana extract for all sorts of medical applications. So you gotta think there’s something to it. But the upside of the show is, nobody’s sure how it works, and so we’ve gotta study it more.”

The second season of “Bill Nye Saves the World” premieres on Netflix on December 29.
