Current regulations force Las Vegas dispensaries to close between the hours of 3 am and 6 am.
You can eat, drink, and gamble at all hours in the city of Las Vegas. Now, you can also buy marijuana, at least at one dispensary.
The Las Vegas City Council voted this week to let Oasis Cannabis keep their doors open 24 hours a day. Oasis is located near the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino and will be the first dispensary legally allowed to stay open at all hours. There are other shops in the area but outside city limits that can stay open 24 hours. North Las Vegas allows marijuana dispensaries to operate 24/7.
Not everyone on the Las Vegas City Council supported the idea. City Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian questioned what a few more hours per day would really mean to a dispensary’s bottom line.
Ben Sillitoe, CEO of Oasis Cannabis had an answer for that question.
“We have people lined up at our door at 6 a.m., and (we) are rushing people out at 3 a.m.,” Sillitoe said according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Sillitoe also mentioned the fact that nearby businesses such as tattoo parlors and bars were open 24/7 and that he could be losing business to North Las Vegas dispensaries that are open through the night. With so many residents in Las Vegas working odd hours in the service industry, it may be quite common for customers to be seeking shops that are open in the early morning hours.
Oasis Cannabis could be starting their new 24/7 hours of operation by tomorrow.
