Maryland Authorities Approve First Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Medical marijuana was approved in Maryland four years ago. But it has taken a long time for the program’s details to be finalized. Now, after several years, Mayrland’s first dispensary has been approved.The Wellness Institute of Maryland will start to see patients and field preorders. “We are fully equipped to deliver medicine as soon as we have it,” Klein said according to the Baltimore Sun. The dispensary is not expected to dispense medicine until September when its first grow produces yields.

Florida Sued Over Medical Marijuana Laws

There has been a great deal of debate among lawmakers since Florida residents approved Amendment 2 in November. Despite the language approved, lawmakers have decided to make changes to Amendment 2 and have outlawed smokeable flower. Attorney John Morgan, who has been a high-profile advocate for medical marijuana in Florida, has filed a lawsuit against the state. He has been utilized the hashtag #NoSmokeIsAJoke on social media. Morgan claims he would not have filed the lawsuit if authorities did not ban smoking marijuana flower. “If they had left that alone, I wouldn’t be flying to Tallahassee today. But, I warned them and so I believe promises made are promises that need to be kept. This will be my final issue dealing with medical marijuana”, Morgan said according to First Coast News.

Ohio Receives 185 Applications for Medical Marijuana Permits

There seems to be a lot of competition for Ohio’s coveted medical marijuana growing permits. More than 180 applicants have filed to receive one of 24 permits that will be issued by Ohio authorities. Of the 24 permits, 12 will allow for grows as large as 25,000 square feet. The remaining 12 will greenlight smaller grows up to 3,000 square feet. House Bill 523 was approved in May of 2016 and signed by Governor Kasich in June of 2016.
