Some Long Beach Jack in the Box restaurants will offer a “Merry Munchie Meal” for a limited time.

If there is one fast food chain eagerly awaiting the federal rescheduling of marijuana, it is Jack in the Box. They have run advertisements that clearly seem to invoke “stoner culture,” and it is no secret as to just who exactly they are marking their late night “Munchie Meals” to.

The Munchie Meals “have been successful for us because of the authenticity of how we speak to our customers. This partnership is one more way for us to connect with them— whether you’re at a concert, up late playing video games or pulling an all-nighter. We are about welcoming all of our guests, no matter what they’re craving or why they’re craving it,” says Iwona Alter, Chief Marketing Officer of Jack in the Box.

In other words, they certainly know their target audience.

But now Jack in the Box is going even further in embracing marijuana culture. They have forged a partnership with the marijuana media outlet Merry Jane. For a limited time, Jack in the Box will offer a “Merry Munchie Meal” at some of their Long Beach, California restaurants.

The meals will cost $4.20, a not so subtle nod to marijuana culture, and will inlcude the “most craveable and snackable products that Jack in the Box has to offer, including: a unique twist on Halfsies (½ curly fries and ½ onion rings) two of the brand’s famous Tacos, 5 Mini Churros, 3 Crispy Chicken Strips and a small drink—all for a very special price of $4.20, plus tax,” according to a joint press release by both Jack in the Box and Merry Jane.

The meals will only be available from January 18 to 25, at the following Jack in the Box locations:

  • 5601 Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach,
  • CA 90804 3032 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808
  • 652 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802

“Launching the MERRY Munchie Meal is the perfect way to acknowledge the cannabis culture in our shared home state of California,” said Scott Chung, Chief Operations Officer of MERRY JANE. “Leveraging our Emmy-nominated content production and forward-thinking, we have created this campaign and limited-time offer product with Jack in the Box that marries both brands’ voices.”

While the meals may be going after a specific 4/20 friendly crowd, the food itself is not infused with marijuana. But, is Jack in the Box’s way of prepping us for that eventuality?
