They say the grass is always greener. And indeed, there was no cannabis allowed nor available for purchase onsite within the Grass Lands area at the Outside Lands Music Festival on August 10-12 in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, whereas Beer, Wine and Cheese Lands were all able to sell and sample their wares.

But leave it to the cannabis industry to get creative! At the first major U.S. music festival to feature a curated cannabis experience dedicated to weed education, attendees met budtenders and reps from major cannabis companies, including Ona.life, Cookies, Kiva, Jetty Extracts and CannaCraft. At the Flow Kana booth, they could compete in a create-your-best-veggie-bong contest. Cannassieur Series offered non-medicated treats and a new canna cookbook, while promoting their gourmet dinner parties. Pax did laser engraving. And True Terpenes created a Scent Wall that no one could pass by without taking a whiff, or several.

There was tons of free swag, fun photo opps, and a surprise performance on Saturday by cannabis crowd favorite Berner, who stepped in on the Panhandle Stage when one of the bands cancelled at the last minute.

“With recreational marijuana now legal in California, there is so much to discover,” said Rick Farman, co-founder of Superfly, co-producers of Outside Lands. “Grass Lands will shine a light on the area’s importance as pioneers in the cannabis world.”

We can’t wait to see how this one grows.
